In conversation with A.I. (2023)

Intrigued by what artificial intelligence knows about day-to-day life in the future, I asked what knitting needles would look like. It responded with an army of orange headless figurines with blue spears. I wanted to explain to A.I. what the past looked like for people who used knitting needles so I threw in a 1960s Blouse, Skirt and Stocking pattern set into the conversation. It didn’t resist. To explore the conversation from different perspectives, inspired by the idea of a 19th Century Lenticular Image Shadow Box, I re-positioned the A.I.s projection onto a soft cushion and studied it from different angles, just to try and make sense of it all.
